September HOT ACTION!

Hi All

There is just way too much hot action going on this month, it all has to go in one post so you can flick open your diaries and see which events you can come to. It’s THAT good. Phew, go and open that window…

FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 17TH – SPANK THE SQURRIEL FEATURING IGOR VOLK LIVE

Summer may be coming to an end, but keeping the musical sunshine very much alive this Autumn will be new solo artist Igor Volk, of New Young Pony Club fame, whom will be performing an exclusive live show for us at Spank. Going it alone for the first time, Igor will be showcasing a set of brand new material with hints of Royksopp, Roxy Music, Talking Heads and Talk Talk. Igor is a pop darling in-the-making, bringing a much welcomed quirky essence to an increasing dull and formulaic music scene. DJ support from The C90s and the Lovely Jonjo. The Book Club, 100 Leonard Street, London EC2A. 8pm-4am. £5 after 9pm. Myspace.com/igorvolk

FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 24TH – THE WI CLUB @ XOYO

The WI Club has now moved to spanking new hip venue Xoyo in the heart of Shoreditch. Woohoo! There is no stopping this crew of dangerous women, as they steam in and take over the ground floor for their own unique slice of dance-floor mayhem. This month, the full team are in full effect – Sophie Lloyd, Lulu Levan, Eeek Empire, Claire Hughes, Cashmere Misfit, Serena Wilson, Zena & Julianna. Lock up your sons! SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 25TH – GUILTY PLEASURES : LOST IN SPACE – 6th BIRTHDAY

A long, long time ago in a galaxy far, far away a long forgotten musical genre was rediscovered under a pile of brit pop schlop and trance anthem CDs. It was rescued from this desolate wasteland of shame and embarrassment and placed back on the pedestal it deserved and once more recognised as the beacon of brilliance. This, my friends was POP MUSIC. And since this day it has been rejoiced to intergalactic heights by the cast of Guilty Pleasures at their many jamborees across the planet – from London to Barcelona, Toronto to Abu Dhabi, Edinburgh to erm, Keele University, the power of pop has conquered all. On Saturday 25th September 2010 Guilty Pleasures will mark this day of discovery, with their Sixth Birthday Party: Lost in Space. Our love of pop is bigger than the universe and despite the kryptonite-like sneering remarks, cynicism and endlessly dull “there’s only two types of music: good or bad” comments, Guilty Pleasures continues in its quest to bring euphoric glee and boundless enthusiasm of this wonderful world of pop to the good people of Earth. Taking to the stage for the night will be the Guilty Pleasures DJs, dancers, prancers and show-offs that are: Sean Rowley, Anna Greenwood, Hot Gusset, DreamBears, Father Oates and his Confessional Booth. Sci-fi is our theme and as always we extend the invitation to dress up as you deem appropriate: Darleks, rockets, robots, planets, Storm Troopers, Trekkies, occupants of interplanetary craft etc all welcome. We are your friends.

KOKO, 9.30pm – 3am £16.50 / less in advance at Guiltypleasures.co.uk
